Indian Junior Men's Hockey Team Wins Bronze at FIH Junior World Cup
In a thrilling encounter at the FIH Men's Junior Hockey World Cup 2025 held in Chennai, the Indian team secured the bronze medal by defeating Argentina with a 4-2 victory on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
The young Indian colts displayed immense resilience, making a dramatic comeback after trailing 0-2 for much of the game. The turning point came in the final quarter, where India scored four goals in just 11 minutes to stun their opponents. Ankit Pal initiated the scoring for India in the 49th minute, followed by Manmeet Singh in the 52nd minute. Sharda Nand Tiwari then converted a penalty stroke in the 57th minute to give India the lead, and Anmol Ekka sealed the victory with another penalty corner conversion in the 58th minute. This impressive performance allowed India to finish one spot better than their fourth-place finishes in the previous two editions of the tournament.
Earlier in the tournament, Germany claimed their record-extending eighth FIH Men's Junior Hockey World Cup title by overcoming Spain in a shootout after their final match ended in a 1-1 draw. The Indian junior women's hockey team also saw action, beating Uruguay 3-1 in a shootout after a 1-1 draw in their qualification match for the 9th to 12th positions at the FIH Hockey Junior Women's World Cup 2025 in Santiago.
